BELLA - Boundary layer Extensive campaign with muLti instrumentaL Analisys
This Spring 2024 measurement campaign has been organized by the CNR-IMAA in collaboration with UNIBAS with the main goal to enstablish a comprehensive dataset for the study of the ABLH evolution and for the characterization of the most important physical and chimical processes taking place within both the ABL and the troposhere. To cover all the relevant aspects and to allow for a robust synergetic approach to the topic, different sensor types have been involved: Multi-wavelength Raman lidars, Doppler Radars, Ceilomenters, Microwave Radiometers, Aethalometer, Nephelometer, Aerodynamic Particle Size, Particle Counter and Sizer, ToF-ACSM, PMx samplers, Radio Sounding system. All these sensors have been operating continously during the campaign under different atmospheric conditions. The resulting dataset is of interest for several porposes like the testing and the assesment of new ABLH retrieval algorithms, to allow for a better understanding of the processes occurring in the lower atmosphere taking advantage of a multi-sensor approach, the validation of mesoscale atmospheric models.
